Dr. Shapiro's Picture Perfect Weight Loss becomes Rodale Inc.'s first New York Times Bestseller. Rodale Inc. and Integrative Medicine Communications announce strategic partnership to provide hospitals with unique health education and revenue-driving outreach programs.
2001
Organic Style begins publication. Rodale Inc. named one of the nation's "Top 500 Women-Owned Businesses" by Working Woman for second consecutive year. Rodale opens state-of-the-art child-care center with 6,400 square feet of classroom space to accommodate 160 children of Rodale employees. Rodale Inc. signs multi-media partnership with alternative medicine authority Dr. Andrew Weil.
2002
Rodale Inc. forms Rodale Books International in U.K. Steve Murphy promoted to President & CEO of Rodale Inc. Rodale Inc. improves its profitability in CY '02 by more than 30 percent over CY '01, as book- and magazine-publishing divisions outperformed their respective industries.
2003
The South Beach Diet becomes Rodale Inc.'s first New York Times No. 1 Bestseller, reaching 5 million copies in print by the year's end. Rodale expands its international presence with new editions of Men's Health launched in Singapore, Malaysia, Greece, Poland, Hungary and China. Runner's World launches in Finland. Rodale's half-year revenue results show an increase of more than 14 percent over the same period in 2002.
2004
Rodale Books has record year in sales and a record number of best-selling titles. Pete Rose: My Prison Without Bars becomes Rodale's second No. 1 New York Times Bestseller, topping the paper's Nonfiction Hardcover list. Grouped with New York Times No. 1 Bestseller The South Beach Diet and national bestseller The South Beach Diet Good Fats Good Carbs Guide, the memoir gives Rodale three national bestsellers in January 2004 alone. In May, The South Beach Diet Cookbook becomes Rodale's third No.1 New York Times bestseller. Gianni Crespi is named President of Rodale International as Rodale expands its book operations and magazine properties outside North America. Rodale launches new men's lifestyle magazine, Best Life.
2005
Steve Murphy, President & CEO, recognized as one of 2004's Best Managers of the Year by BusinessWeek Magazine. Rodale launches Women's Health magazine.
2006
Men's Health becomes the top-selling men's magazine on newsstands. Rodale magazines receive eight National Magazine Award nominations. Thirteen Rodale Books titles make the bestseller list, including An Inconvenient Truth by former Vice President Al Gore, which reaches #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. The company grows its subscription Web site business, developing leading online health and wellness properties such BiggestLoserClub.com, the companion to Reveille Productions' and NBC's The Biggest Loser television program, and TheBestLife.com, based on Bob Greene?s Best Life Diet. Rodale is named Publishing Company of the Year by Advertising Age, and Working Mother names Rodale to its list of Best 100 Companies for working mothers.
2007
Rodale completed another successful year, with revenues for all company operations increasing 7.8% compared to 2006. Advertising revenues for the company's magazines were up 23%, while industry advertising revenues were up 5.9%. As the company accelerated its aggressive online strategy, revenues for Rodale's digital initiatives, including its magazine-branded sites, subscription services Web sites, and direct-to-consumer sales through online channels increased by 70.9% over 2006. Thirteen Rodale Books titles made the New York Times bestseller list and the company acquired more than 5.3 million new customers in 2007.
