Twinkies for Breakfast?
You wouldn't eat ice cream for breakfast, or hand your family packages of Twinkies as they head out the door in the morning. But a new report from the Environmental Working Group, a consumer advocacy nonprofit, reveals that's exactly what you could be doing if you're eating any of a dozen popular breakfast foods with sky-high sugar counts. The group analyzed the nutritional content of 84 cereals, some of which were over 50 percent sugar by weight, and found that some of the most popular children's cereals could send a child into sugar shock before he or she has a chance to slurp the red-dye-tainted milk at the bottom of the bowl. And it's not just kids cereals. Adult breakfasts aren't exactly healthy either, the group found.
