RODALE NEWS, EMMAUS, PA—The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and never is that more true than on Father’s Day. After all, what dad needs yet another tacky tie? But memories of a well-cooked bison steak will stick with him all year, especially when he notices how much lower his cholesterol is after eating it.

In honor of dads everywhere, we’ve compiled a list of Father’s Day foods that will improve Dad’s health, save the planet, and win you big points for making an effort.

Best Breakfast
Whether your dad has a busy day ahead or will spend it hanging around the house, the right breakfast will keep him fueled and prevent blood sugar spikes that make him tired or irritable (no one wants that). Try serving 3 eggs cooked to order (the protein will help him feel full), ½ cup of oatmeal (lots of fiber and long-lasting carbs), plus a cup of blueberries (full of health-boosting natural chemicals) and a cup of skim milk (more protein).

Or try a Granola Parfait. It’s full of high-antioxidant fruits as well as protein-rich and cancer-fighting yogurt.

Ingredients
1 banana, sliced
1 cup raspberries, peaches, strawberries, apricots, or other high-antioxidant fruit
1 container (5.3 ounces) fat-free Greek-style yogurt
1 1/2 cups granola

Directions
Layer the banana, fruit, yogurt, and granola in 2 tall glasses. Serve immediately.
