Melanie Hansche is editorial director of the Rodale’s Organic Life brand, where she oversees the editorial direction across all Organic Life platforms, including RodalesOrganicLife.com, books, and special interest publications, around its core topics of natural living, food, and gardening.
Hansche joined Rodale in 2014 as executive director of Food Content and Strategy, where she re-imagined several of the company’s key food platforms and initiatives. These include the Rodale Recipe Finder, one of the most comprehensive sources of healthy recipe content online, and the Rodale Test Kitchen, where recipes and kitchen products are tested and reviewed for the company’s portfolio of magazines and books.
Prior to joining Rodale, she served as managing editor for one of Australia’s most successful, revered food publications — donna hay magazine — starting in 2007. Hansche played a key role in developing and executing editorial direction and day-to-day operations at the multi-platform brand, contributing to the magazine’s year-over-year print-circulation growth. She embraced the digital environment, which led donna hay to become Australia’s #1 digital magazine app. She also helped produce the two best-selling issues of a brand that received numerous industry accolades during her tenure, such as Food Magazine of the Year (2012) at the Australian Magazine Awards. Hansche also served as editor for several titles by best-selling cookbook author Donna Hay, including The New Classics, Simple Dinners, Seasons, Fresh and Light, and Fast, Fresh, Simple.
Prior to joining donna hay magazine, she covered food in various capacities, such as restaurant critic, radio presenter, television researcher, and food writer for a range of publications, including Australia’s oldest, most established restaurant guide, Cheap Eats, and premier food magazine, Australian Gourmet Traveller. With more than 15 years of experience in print and digital, Hansche has also specialized in food media for more than a decade.
