New York, NY (November 15, 2007) — Rodale has announced the appointment of Heidi Rodale to the Board of Directors at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center — formerly the Lehigh Valley Velodrome — in Trexlertown, PA. Rodale follows in the footsteps of her father, Robert Rodale, who founded the famed facility in 1974.

In her new position, Rodale will assist in promoting the health, fitness, and competitive benefits of track cycling. She will also play an instrumental role in developing the facility and its programs to meet the demands of the ever-growing sport.

“I am extremely pleased to join the Valley Preferred Cycling Center Board of Directors and look forward to working with other Board members and the Center’s management team to develop the future strategy for the facility that will best serve our community,” said Heidi Rodale.

“In our push to continually improve the quality of our programs and services at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, the addition of Heidi to our Board of Directors is another step in the right direction,” said Erin Hartwell, President and CEO, Valley Preferred Cycling Center. “Heidi’s personal interest in the sport, her family’s long history as benefactors to our facility, and our desire to restructure the board in a positive direction make her involvement with our organization critical to our far-reaching, long-term plans.”

“The Rodale family has always been supportive of cycling,” said Chris Lambiase, Vice President and Publishing Director of Rodale’s Bicycling Group. “Heidi has been a true advocate for the sport and her personal interest in the Valley Preferred Cycling Center further reinforces her commitment.”

Heidi Rodale has been a member of the board at Rodale Inc. since 1990 and most recently served as development editor for the company’s Men’s Health magazine and Sports Books group. She is currently editing a book on the history of Rodale, which her grandfather J.I. Rodale founded in 1930. She was a member of the board at the Rodale Aquatic Center at Cedar Crest College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, during its development. Heidi Rodale is a past recipient of the Paragon Award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame and has been listed in the “Who’s Who in Aquatics.” Heidi Rodale holds a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Carnegie Mellon University and is a graduate of the Stanford University Professional Publishing Course. She resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania, with her family.
