More Than 100 Rodale Inc. Employees Participate in Rodale Bike to Work Day

Rodale Inc., the world’s leading healthy lifestyle media company, today announced that 104 employees across the company commuted to work by bike on Monday. The effort was part of the Rodale 100 Rider Challenge, a program developed to incentivize employees to opt for a healthier, more active mode of transportation and decrease their carbon footprint in exchange for an extended Summer Hours Program. By exceeding the 100-rider goal, Rodale Inc.’s company-wide Summer Hours will commence this Friday, May 15, one week ahead of schedule.

Among those who participated in the company’s Bike to Work Day were Chairman and CEO Maria Rodale, SVP of Digital Operations & Strategy Beth Buehler, Prevention Publisher Lori Burgess, Senior Director of Employee Health & Fitness Budd Coates, SVP of Human Resources Miranda DeSantis, Bicycling Publisher Zack Grice, Rodale Inc. SVP/Group Publisher Chris Lambiase, Runner’s World Publisher Molly O’Keefe, Bicycling Editor-in-Chief Bill Strickland and Runner’s World Editor-in-Chief David Willey.

“It’s exciting to see the enthusiasm that our employees had in planning for and participating in our Bike to Work Day and it speaks to the power and value of motivating and engaging employees with a fun and energetic workplace,” said Maria Rodale.

Rodale held its Bike to Work Day as a kickoff for national Bike to Work Week (May 11-15), a part of May’s designation as National Bike Month. Founded by the League of American Bicyclists, National Bike Month is “an opportunity to celebrate the unique power of the bicycle and the many reasons we ride.“
