Organic Gardening Wins Two Gold Awards From The Garden Writer’s Association


EMMAUS, PA and NEW YORK, NY, October 9, 2009-Organic Gardening magazine, published by Rodale Inc., has received Gold Awards for Best Magazine and Best Magazine Writing from the Garden Writers Association for the 2009 Media Awards program. The awards, which recognize the vast talents of garden communicators in the areas of writing, photography, graphic design, illustration, and electronic media, were announced at the Garden Writer’s Association Annual Awards Banquet in Raleigh, N.C. on September 26.

From 307 awards entries, Silver Awards of Achievement were given to 45 pieces of work published in 2008, making them semi-finalists for Gold Awards for Best Talent or Best Product. Organic Gardening received a Gold Award for Best Magazine for the July 2008 issue beating out Garden Design and Enjoy Gardening.

In the Magazine Writing category Organic Gardening dominated with four articles receiving recognition out of seven in the category. The winning article, “Rain Check” from the Aug-Oct 2008 issue was written by Managing Editor Therese Ciesinski. Organic Gardening beat out other nominees Garden Design and Green Print for the Best Magazine Writing honor.
