PREVENTION ADJUSTS CIRCULATION RATE BASE

EMMAUS, PA, and NEW YORK, NY, March 27, 2009–Prevention magazine, the largest healthy lifestyle brand in the world, will adjust its circulation rate base from 3.3 million to 2.8 million, a decrease of 15%, it was announced today by newly appointed SVP/Publisher Mary Murcko. The change will be effective with the July issue of the magazine, which is on newsstand June 2, 2009.

“Overall demand for the Prevention brand remains very strong,” said Murcko. “By implementing this strategy, we can better serve our advertisers. We’re focusing on our most engaged and loyal readers–influential, educated, health-minded women who are connecting with the editorial content, often simultaneously, across multiple platforms including the magazine, best-selling books and a thriving Web site.”

The Prevention brand has established itself as an industry leader and authoritative voice by engaging readers as a trusted source of health content. The magazine was recently named a National Magazine Award finalist in the Personal Service category. Prevention.com, the top online health magazine destination and a digital health resource leader, experienced more than 204 million page views and more than 27 million unique viewers in 2008, a 62% and 44% increase respectively over 2007. Flat Belly Diet! (www.flatbellydiet.com), authored by Prevention Editor-in-Chief Liz Vaccariello with Cynthia Sass, MPH, RD, instantly debuted in the non-fiction category on The New York Times Bestseller list. Here it has remained for seventeen weeks, selling more than 1.3 million copies in 2008.
