Rodale Books Announces Partnership With NetGalley

RODALE BOOKS ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH NETGALLEY

New York, NY, July 29, 2009-Rodale Books announced today its participation in NetGalley, a program which digitally delivers galleys, promotional materials, and other pre-publication content to professional readers, including: reviewers, journalists, booksellers, bloggers, and librarians, among others. Rodale’s partnership with NetGalley will begin summer 2009.

Through NetGalley, Rodale will be able to upload book content, as well as promotional and marketing materials (book trailers, illustrations, audio files, video, etc.) to a central location and invite readers to view the information online. This comprehensive galley “package” will encourage readers to more thoroughly engage with Rodale’s branded and non-branded titles, while additional interactive tools will allow Rodale to better track and respond to reader communication and activity. This electronic approach will serve to broaden the audience and reach of Rodale’s galley distribution, providing an opportunity to better connect with both traditional and new media communities.

The books featured at the launch of the program are among Rodale’s key fall titles and include:

&middot Legendary music critic Robert Hillburn’s Cornflakes with John Lennon: And Other Tales from a Rock ‘n’ Roll Life.

Illustrated titles, such as Rodale’s forthcoming graphic adaptation of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species, and DogJoy: The Happiest Dogs in the Universe, by the editors of Bark magazine, were previously available only as blads/samplers but can now be viewed in their entirety at NetGalley. In addition, NetGalley will offer readers a way to instantly access embargoed content, such as Vice President Al Gore’s eagerly anticipated follow-up to An Inconvenient Truth, Our Choice, immediately upon publication this November.
