FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Emmaus, PA, and New York, NY, October 10, 2007 — Rodale Direct announced the appointment of Gregg Michaelson to the position of Executive Vice President, effective immediately. Previously he was Senior Vice President for the division.
“Gregg has built and sustained the company’s second largest business, overseeing direct response sales of magazine subscriptions, books, DVDs, and other Rodale products,” said President of Rodale’s Publishing and Marketing Group Bill Ostroff, who made the appointment. “He has created an end-to-end direct-to-consumer relationship through all of Rodale’s brands and contributed in fields outside his core areas of expertise, such as retail video sales and online subscription services.” Michaelson will continue to report to Ostroff.
Under Michaelson’s leadership, Rodale Direct has delivered impressive results with net revenue and profit increasing to record levels over the last two years. During his tenure with the company, Michaelson has successfully led Rodale’s transition to using a multi-channel approach to the direct-response marketing of magazines and books, leveraging key Rodale brands such as Prevention, Men’s Health, The South Beach Diet, and The Abs Diet. Rodale Direct now sells five million books a year, 50% of which are sold through media other than direct mail.
Prior to joining Rodale, Michaelson served as Vice President of Marketing for American Family Enterprises, a Time Warner affiliate, where he directed sales of magazines, books, music, videos, and merchandise through multiple direct marketing channels in the United States and abroad.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration in finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from the University of Michigan.
“Gregg is a strong leader who has helped grow the capabilities and impact of his core team, which has, in turn driven our success,” added Ostroff. “I am also proud to include myself and the entire senior team among the beneficiaries of Gregg’s passion, truth-seeking, and relentless pursuit of the full potential of his business.”
