Valerie Valente Promoted To SVP and Publishing Director, Rodale Custom Publishing

NEW YORK, April 3, 2008—Rodale Inc., the authoritative source for trusted content in health and wellness worldwide, has promoted Valerie Valente to Senior Vice President and Publishing Director, Rodale Custom Publishing, effective immediately. She will continue to report to MaryAnn Bekkedahl, Executive Vice President and Group Publisher, Rodale.

Valente, who was appointed Vice President and Publishing Director in June 2002, will continue to oversee a Custom Publishing team that includes sales, editorial, and production. Custom Publishing products include Diane, a quarterly magazine for Curves International; You24, a lifestyle publication for 24 Hour Fitness; Lamaze magazine for Lamaze International; and Little Brown Book for Bloomingdale’s, among others.

Since joining Rodale in 2002, Valente has increased custom publishing revenue eight-fold and the group has consistently received awards for marketing, business plan development, editorial, and design excellence. In 2007, Rodale won three Pearl Awards, presented by the Custom Publishing Council.

Valente joined Rodale from Barnes & Noble College Marketing Network where she served as Vice President Sales and Marketing since 2000. Prior to Barnes & Noble College Marketing Network, Valente served as Vice President, Marketing at Textbooks.com.
