New York, NY, August 17, 2009—Rodale Inc. today announced the launch of Women’s Health South Africa under a partnership with Touchline Media, the leading sports and healthy lifestyle publisher in South Africa. Women’s Health South Africa will first launch online on September 9, 2009 with a robust, content-rich Web site, www.womenshealthsa.co.za, that will include results-oriented and science-based fitness and nutrition tips, “Create Your Own Workout” features, and fashion and beauty coverage that will inspire South Africa’s population of healthy, active women. The launch issue of Women’s Health South Africa will be available on newsstands on October 21, 2009, and the magazine will be published 10 times per year.
“The decision to launch Women’s Health South Africa online ahead of its print debut really speaks to how Women’s Health has evolved into a true media brand with the ability to thrive in multiple formats,” said Michelle Meyercord, Senior Vice President, Rodale International. “The demand for Women’s Health South Africa is so strong that Rodale and Touchline saw a tremendous opportunity to provide customers with a more immediate entry point to the brand. Globally, Women’s Health is thriving online, so we fully expect our strategy to greatly enhance what we know will be another successful print launch.”
Today’s announcement extends Rodale’s relationship with Touchline Media, which also publishes Men’s Health South Africa, Runner’s World South Africa, and Bicycling South Africa. Said Nic Wides, Managing Director of Touchline Media, “Women’s Health is an absolute no-brainer in the South African market. Relevant market success in the USA and Australia confirms Touchline Media’s belief in the brand, which will prove a compelling companion to Men’s Health and a wonderful addition to our other health titles. In challenging times, it’s exciting to launch such a globally successful title. This is great news for Touchline Media, as well as the magazine and media industry.”
The launch of Women’s Health South Africa marks the brand’s third international launch in 2009 and brings the total number of Women’s Health editions around the world to eleven. Global editions of Women’s Health are also available in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Central America, China, Latin America, New Zealand, Philippines, Turkey, and the United States.
